Chardonnay
Chardonnay is one of the most popular white grape varietal in the world. It came from Burgundy, France but is now widely grown all over the world. Chardonnay was one of the first grapes grown in the eastern part of the U.S. in the Finger Lakes area of N.Y. This green grape is so easy to grow and adapts well to different environments. Known for its high yields, Chardonnay is versatile and can have many different characteristics. The aromas of Chardonnay are rich, buttery with hints of apples, lemons, tropical fruits and peaches. Chardonnay is known for its oak flavors although un-oaked Chardonnay has been becoming more popular. This varietal is also used in many sparkling wines and Champagne. It goes well with foods like seafood, pork, poultry and butter based sauces.
88 Points - Australian Wine Companion:
"Still pale straw-green; early picking and extended lees contact (no oak) gives freshness and some texture to a light-bodied chardonnay."
87 Points - Wine Spectator:
"Refreshing, with pear and grapefruit flavors on an open frame, lingering nicely."
A delicate pale lemon color, it shows fresh white peach, a hint of fig and some barrel complexity on the nose. It is a beautifully balanced and restrained wine with excellent soft fruit definition: a stylish and elegant face of Chardonnay.

Showing balanced depth and complexity, light straw to golden color. White peach and lime citrus aromas. A clean wine with lean acidity refreshes the palate. Stone minerals and luscious melon equally contend for attention in this mouth filling, delicious wine. Showing very well now and will continue to gain complexity for 1-3 years.

91 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"The winemaker pulled out all the bells and whistles, barrel fermenting this Chardonnay, putting it through partial malolactic fermentation, and aging it on the lees. The result is a rich, creamy wine, ripe in pineapple, orange, pear, vanilla and honeysuckle flavors, and brightened with brisk Carneros acidity. Shows impeccable balance, at a fair price."

Like a tropical breeze, the wine has spicy ginger, coconut, melon and white flower aromas on its nose. The aromas repeat again in the mouth, all pinned down by a zingy pineapple note. Try with a tangy cheese, like fresh chevre, or on its own. According to Wine Enthusiast: "Here's a rich Chardonnay. It's upfront in pineapple pie, peach cobbler, pear jam, apple butter and caramelly oak flavors, yet is dry and pleasantly crisp in acidity.

Our estate is unique. The imprint of its terroir is readily apparent in the aromatics, flavors and textures of our wines. For Chardonnay, one of the most noteworthy traits is concentration. Our 2010 is a great example. While displaying a bit more elegance than recent vintages, the wine is still wonderfully intense and powerful with notes of baked apple, hazelnuts, lemon peel, nutmeg, brioche and cream.

Golden and smooth, with a sweet vanilla aroma, our medium-weight Chardonnay is full of honeyed peach and Fuji apple flavors. This wine makes every moment a little more fun, whether you're watching the sunset from your back porch or reality TV from your couch.

Winemaker's Notes:
" Aromas of mineral, lemon zest, sea salt, and autumn fruits. Exuberant entry featuring focused green apple and Asian pears, bright framing acidity, and a long steely finish. This wine, while approachable now, will benefit from 3-4 years of cellaring."
