Sauvignon Blanc is a white grape that comes from France, around the Bordeaux region. The name translates to mean savage or wild and the "blanc" means white. This grape is great as a single varietal and is also found in many dessert wines. Some sauvignon blanc wines were the first to be bottled with a screw cap. This wine doesn’t age very well. It is now grown all over the world and is known to ripen early. It grows well in cooler and sunny areas as long as it isn’t exposed to over-bearing heat. Before 1970, sauvignon blanc wines were too sweet and weren’t very popular. Because of this unpopularity, Robert Mondavi attempted to make a better version similar to Pouilly Fume and decided to create the name “Fume Blanc” as a marketing scheme. This bold move was successful and this term is continually used to describe the style of the wine. This varietal has hints of citrus and is light and crisp. It is a great white wine alternative to chardonnay which can be heavier in oak. It goes well with light dishes, seafood, salads and poultry.
Fragrant tannins and minerality give this wine a refined, yet refreshing palate. Notes of orchids and other botanicals mingle with hints of sambuco, peach and pineapple. Pairings: Ideal as an aperitif; pairs well with shellfish, fish and creamy cheese.
90 Points - Wine Enthusiast: "Veramonte's first high-end Ritual Sauvignon is a big success. The nose is mellow, refined and minerally as opposed to pungent and feline. The feel is fresh, clean as a razor, and easygoing, with lime, nectarine and passion fruit flavors. Long and lightly green on the classy finish." Ritual was created as an elegant, yet approachable interpretation of Sauvignon Blanc. Only the finest estate-grown fruit from vineyard blocks known to produce intense fruit flavors and higher acidity are chosen for this wine. The resulting wine is medium-bodied, featuring a rounder, more textural mouth feel with balanced acidity. Intense flavors of ripe tropical fruit mingle with hints of citrus in structured complexity from 5 months of French oak aging. The experience ends with a long, smooth finish. alcohol by volume: 13.5%

Winemaker's Notes: Pale green-tinged in appearance. Bright aromas of lemongrass, lime, herbs, grapefruit, Viognier spice and spring flowers.
