Sauvignon gris is a close mutation of sauvignon blanc. It is pink in color and mostly found in Bordeaux and regions of Chile. This varietal is mostly used for blending. It also goes by the name sauvignon rose. It has almost the same characteristics as sauvignon blanc, like the acidity levels, but it is softer with hints of grapefruit. Some wines that have this varietal are the Vina Cousino Macul sauvignon gris from Chile and Domaine de Belle Vue sauvignon gris from the Loire Valley. There aren’t too many wines that feature this single variety but there are few from areas like Chalk Hill, Maipo Valley and the Colchagua Valley, to name a few.
