Sicily makes some really great wines. Their white wines are often described as fresh. Some of the wines like Inzolia have flavors of figs and flowers with mouth filling textures. Other wines like greco or grillo have their own distinct characteristics. Sicily also produces wines with varietals like Viogniev, fiano, cointo nero, etc. The history of wine from this region can date back to early Greeks around the 8th century. There are twenty three regions that produce wine in Sicily and have DOC designation. As well as white wines, Sicily also is known for their fabulous dessert wines.
