Single Malt Scotch

Single Malt Scotch whiskey (or whisky) is a distillery from a mash that uses malted grain, usually barley. Under Scotch Whiskey regulations, a Single Malt Scotch Whiskey must be made from only malted barley, all the malts in the bottle must come from a single distillery, the whiskey must be aged for three years in oak casks of a capacity not exceeding 700 liters, and it must be distilled in a pot still. These rules may not apply to whiskey marketed as single malt that is produced elsewhere. Multi-distillery malts are usually called blended malt, vatted malt or pure malt scotch.
