"Located in Lalande de Pomerol, Chateau La Graviere is a small property whose old vines average about 50 years of age. Owned by Catherine Pere Verge, also owner of Ch. Le Gay and Ch. La Violette, it is under the supervision of the oenologist Michel Rolland. The viticulture and winemaking are held to meticulous standards. With a total area of just 6 acres and an annual production of only 500 cases, this little gem is truly a bargain for the price. As is typical of this region just north of Pomerol, the blend is Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Franc (20%). It is aged in 50% new and 50% once used French oak barrels. The other fun fact about this wine is it's the 'house wine' for Alain Ducasse's restaurants both here in the U.S. and in France. But there is a reason it enjoys such high profile placements. The truth is in the bottle where there's plenty of chocolaty black cherry and blackberry fruit, medium to full body, bright acidity and sweet tannin."
