Lively, stylish, confidently and assertively medium-bodied Coonawarra. Rhubarb compote carries over onto the palate, energised by blackcurrant and quince allies and red fruits (cranberry and persimmon). Tomato chutney/relish/pulp giving way to savory tapenade, Dutch red licorice. The feature here is texture, structurally woven, a mesh rather than a coating tightened by oak, bound by powdery Coonawarra Cabernet tannins. Good grip, natural acidity.

Australian Wine Companion James Halliday
"The wine spent 18 months in new French oak, and is fundamentally different to Bin 707 Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep purplecrimson, it has exceptional focus, intensity and length, cedary notes of French oak precisely woven through the vibrant blackcurrant fruit, reaching a crescendo on the finish. It follows in the footsteps of a oneoff Coonawarra cabernet from the 1973 vintage, also given the Bin 169 tag. (24Feb2012)"
